The simple geometry is the main characteristic of an O-Ring which in conjunction with proper elastomer selection results
in a low cost, easy to use and efficient sealing system.

Elastomeric materials, when compressed, react like a high

viscosity fluid which transmits applied stress in every direction;

consequently, the O-Ring serves as a barrier, blocking the leak paths between the sealing surfaces.

The Quad-Ring is a self-sealing ring with four rounded sealing lobes.  Quad-Rings were primarily designed to replace “O” -Rings in cases where the application of “O” -Rings is not satisfactory or not suitable.  The four contoured sealing lobes have great sealing capacities and provide a useful oil groove.  The diametrical compression required is lower than if “O” -Rings are          used.  Less compression means less friction

and consequently less wear in dynamic application.
